Segment 1

Content and Objectives:

Initial Introduction to the project and the project’s objectives, timeline and implementation steps.

 

Understand Proficiency and Certification Pathway

 

Understand effective implementation strategies through training, consultation, and practice wth clients

Content and Objectives:

Review meaning of each word in TARGET Model

 

Understand reasons to focus trauma treatment on self-regulation and how TARGET supports with this (In Treatment Manual)

Activities:

Review of the structural components of TARGET sessions and purpose of each. This can be led by facilitators creating a structural outline.

Segment 5

Content and Objectives:

Rationale for the TARGET model, through FREEDOM Steps

 

Review of core skills of the TARGET Model-FREEDOM Steps

Activities:

Practice a FREEDOM Exercise- A personal stressor

Segment 7

Content and Objectives:

Review of Group Session 1.2-discussion of purpose and importance of goals, and how to focus attention throughout all session materials on clients’ goals

Increase knowledge and understanding of concept of mental focusing, with review of facilitator experiences teaching to clients.

Understand how TARGET can be used to support with self-care and as a protective factor for resilience and compassion satisfaction

Understand empathy, empathic imagination and within the FREEDOM Exercise

Activities:

Practice a FREEDOM Exercise: Empathically through the lens of a client’s stressor

Segment 8

Content and Objectives:

Understand the diverse stressors and emotional experiences that TARGET can support with the FREEDOM Steps.

 

Understand how to use FREEDOM Steps as distinct skills in addition to a sequence. Review of T4 steps and when to consider using T4 as a support to clients.

Review and understanding of how to use the SOS Log, SOS worksheet and different SOS adaptations

 

Understanding of ways to support clients with personal engagement with the SOS, to include strategies that are person-centered in approach

Activities:

Practice of every facilitator leading the group in the SOS

 

Facilitators lead cohort members in components of Session 2

Segment 14

Content and Objectives:

Understand purpose and utilization of booster sessions

Activities:

Facilitators create structure and content adapted to a group or individual client they have led through TARGET

Segment 16

Content and Objectives:

Review of Group Session 1.5 with discussion of concepts and structural components of closing sessions.

Activities:

Facilitators lead cohort members in components of Sessions 7-9

Segment 18

Content and Objectives:

Recognition of the work and progress of facilitators through the project.

 

Discussion and planning of continued practice and learning at the conclusion of the project.
