Stages
(Average- may be variance amongst cohort participants)
Orange
Description
This cohort is in the beginning stages of adopting the EBP. Many factors may be involved in determining a cohort is in this stage. Examples include: Minimal related education of cohort participants, less experience in providing therapy and/or EBP, less experience with implementations, less experience with quality assurance and/or supervision, negative attitudes and beliefs about the implementation, less experience with the technology needed to meaningfully attend consultation, less support from program staff in adopting the EBP in a rigorous way (e.g. flexibility with schedule, reinforcement, time to plan for groups)
Notes
Pay special attention to the groups’ own reactivity, modeling the use of the skills while retaining professional boundaries at all times. Special attention should be paid to rapport building. Be cautious about triangulation/splitting between cohort attendees and what they share about program leadership and onsite support. Make sure to refocus “venting” so that the consultation moves attendees towards personal and systemic goals of the EBP implementation.
Green
Description
This cohort is in the middle stages of adopting the EBP. While barriers from the orange stage may exist they are less predominant amongst the group members and alternative goals are identified and addressed with regularity. This cohort is in an intermediate stage of understanding the EBP.
Notes
Pay special attention to more challenging concepts of the intervention (e.g. Practice Exercise for FREEDOM, nuanced examples of reactive emotions, thoughts, goals, options), begin to highlight adaptations of the model that retain fidelity.
Blue
Description
This cohort is in the middle stages of adopting the EBP. While barriers from the orange stage may exist they are less predominant amongst the group members and alternative goals are identified and addressed with regularity. This cohort is in a beginning stage of understanding the EBP.
Notes
Make sure to reinforce foundational content of the intervention.
Yellow
Description
This cohort is in the advanced stages of adopting the EBP. They may have entered into the project with a strong foundation in the intervention or therapeutic practices and/or have been engaged in QA activities for a longer period of time.
Notes
Activities and discussion prepared for this group should be advanced in nature. Activities and discussion should be supportive to attendees in successfully adapting intervention content while retaining fidelity.
